from Fight the New Drug
April Fools! We’re often asked if we’ll create a dating app, and while we love fighting for love, playing matchmaker does not fall in line with our mission to raise awareness on the harmful effects of porn using only science, facts, and personal accounts.
We want to encourage you in your pursuit of love and connection. We hope you know there are great, eligible people out there also looking for love who fight against porn’s influence in society!
Many of these great people have seen porn in their lifetime, but are committed to fighting for love and raising awareness on its harms. There are also great, eligible people out there who might be actively going through a struggle with porn, but that doesn’t mean they can’t overcome it if they want to. And, of course, there are great and eligible people out there who maybe consume porn because they haven’t yet been made aware of porn’s harmful effects, but they aren’t “bad” people. This is why we encourage all Fighters to have open, love-based, and shame-free discussions about porn’s harms in a way that invites people to consider the harmful effects for themselves.
It’s no secret that porn can and does impact relationships in very real and hurtful ways, and we are not minimizing anyone’s experience with that. There are couples who have overcome the pain porn has brought into their relationships, and there are people who have decided to part ways because of this pain. We see and acknowledge each unique situation—you are not alone. Betrayal trauma is real.
Check out this article that explores the idea of whether it’s a bad idea or not to be dating someone who has struggled with porn and this article about healthy ways to support a partner recovering from a struggle with porn.
Remember that it’s a myth that everyone watches porn. There are plenty of people who don’t, and many have even reported the tangible benefits of living a porn-free life.
Even if someone has struggled with porn in the past, they can still be amazing partners.

Keep fighting for real love, Fighters, no matter your relationship status!
