A woman from Menlo Park, California, is left to deal with a massive cleanup at her home after an Airbnb guest caused what she estimates to be over $10,000 worth of water damage.

The even more shocking part?

The woman says there was evidence left at the house that suggests the renter was a sex worker who used the house to shoot porn.

As reported on by ABC 7,  Sharon Marzouk returned to her Silicon Valley home to find extensive water damage from an Airbnb guest who had left the bathtub running. Marzouk posted a video on Facebook to show the huge mess in her home.

“There was water pouring from the second floor to the first floor,” Marzouk said. She believes the bathtub was left running by accident, but damage estimates now top $10,000. “The place is destroyed,” she said.

The woman renting the room told Marzouk she was a real estate agent, but things didn’t add up. “As the pieces fell into place that she was more than likely using my bathroom as a business for her to take photos of herself,” Marzouk said. The homeowner believes her guest was a sex worker after finding left behind sex toys and noticing installed extra lighting in the bathroom. The guest also left behind a handwritten shot sheet, too explicit to show, of X-rated pictures she was possibly planning to take.

In a statement, Airbnb said: “We have zero tolerance for this kind of behavior and have removed this guest from our platform.”

Marzouk says her guest is now gone and Airbnb says it is working cover the cost of damage.

Why This Matters

In our porn-obsessed society today, stories like this are becoming more and more common. The news stories seem to get more and more disturbing each passing week, which only shows how big of a problem pornography is in our generation. Some of the more recent stories we’ve covered are: the 15-year-old who was arrested for making and distributing child porn, a former sex trafficked teen girl who was coerced into having group sex with football players in their high school bathroom, and the stomach-turning realities of Germany’s sex industry.

It is clear that the easy access to pornography has a negative effect on our society as a whole. Until we can help the world understand the science and research behind the harms of porn, we will continue seeing its poisonous influence affect the lives of real people.
